Caught him on a zara spook right before it stormed. I managed to find some windows this weekend where it stopped lightning enough to hit the banks of the lake.

6 pounder at 2 minutes in this video:

I hooked into one that was bigger but he popped my 15 pound test line. Admittedly, I had the drag set wrong, but still must have been a biggun.

Let me know what y'all think! I think this weekend I'll be going up to Nacogdoches and fishing another honey hole I've got there.

And retie after horsing a big fish or occasionally after a bunch of small fish through all that grass. Can't tell you how many times I have had to chase down my favorite spook because I didn't retie

Get you some braid. 50lb for what you want to throw topwater spooks, frogs, buzzbaits and worms/swimbaits on. Tie a 15-20lb floro leader on it when fishing the slow baits. I like seguaur invizx or red label. 25lb mono is a waste of time. To heavy to cast well, lots of memory and wont last a long time on your reel. You can use that 50lb braid all year and never worry about it and a 200yd spool of floro for leaders will last forever.

What brand braid do you recommend? I used some cheaper spiderwire stuff and didn't really like it
