Yamaha HPDI 175 hp

If the previous owner used premium, do I need to still?

He had a fabric cover on the cowling, does it need to be removed while operating the boat to prevent overheating?

Thanks in advance

I had a boat previously that I bought preowned, and the previous owner also used premium. My mechanic recommended the mid grade and I switched with no problems. Mid grade was also recommended to me for my new boat.

If the cover is vented then you can run with it on. If it is a full cover with no mesh vents on the sides and front then you must remove it.

Do you have a manual? See what it recommends for gas.

Yamahas do not require premium fuel. You would be better served to use ethanol free if you can tho.
