http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lews_Davi...cpage-DFPC.html I saw this rod on tacklewarehouse for 79 bucks and seemed like a good deal. My question is do you think the 7'11" can handle the big xd10? It says it's for 1/2 to 3 oz lures. All the other rods recommended for the big cranks are easily $150+ and I don't really want to spend a ton of dough. Any of you guys ever chunked this thing?

I use this rod it's not the most sensitive and pretty heavy. You can launch the 8 and 10 xd and it handles them flawlessly. I can chunk all day with this rod. Overall I think you get what you pay for in this rod. It works but definitely has its problems.

In my experience, stainless frame guides with aluminum oxide inserts do not hold up well, especially with larger baits. You pay a low price out of the gate, but end up replacing a lot of guides after a year or two of use. I'd pay more a bit more to get something with Fuji Alconites on it. Also, I've never seen a crankbait rod that throws everything from 1/2oz-3oz well.

Check out the McCain Rods giant crankbait rod. It makes throwing an XD 10 a breeze. Good Texas company owned by originator and owner of All Star Rods. Mccainrods.com

I have a Dobyn's 806 CB that works very well for 10XD's.

I don't throw it much because I would rather throw a Hudd or a Smash-Tech Shiner. So I didn't want to dedicate a lot of $ for a rod that I would not use that much. So I picked up a Berkley Lightning Rod Shock - 7'6" H, up to 3 oz. I use 17# Hi Seas Grand Slam Select. The Irving Walmart on Airport Frwy is closing them out for $25.00.

I use a flippin stick with moderate tip to through the 10xd. I very rarely throw one so its not worth dedicating a rod to that bait. My go to crank is a 6xd and if I need it to get deeper I will just long line it.

I am trying to justify a Dobyns myself and just cant pull the trigger, I mean will I really fish an XD 10 that much..... exactly If you guys really want a rod that is phenomenal for 10XDs, go with the 7'11 MH Shimano Crucial Swimbait rod. It has a fast action, and it is my go-to for 10XDs, spoons, Lunker Thumpers and big swimbaits. You can use it year around. I don't lose many fish on it, and it's not too much of a grind when pulling a big bait back to the boat. The first year I threw 10XDs, I lost one fish on it the whole year. It's not gonna go for under $100, unless you find one used, but you might be able to find one closer to your price range when a dealer has a sale. I would sell almost any rod in my boat before I sold the two Crucials, and they're some of the least expensive rods I own.

I haven't tried the 7'10 H rod. I like the versatility of the 7'11 MH, for sure. I like for the rods I buy to work for more than one application, which I'm sure the 7'10 does also. I kind of got lucky on the swimbait rod. I originally bought it for throwing A-rigs (it works for them too, forgot to mention that earlier) and swimbaits. Other than the E6X 7'6 MH, this is the only rod that I have a duplicate of. One day I tied on a 10XD, and I was fortunate to get a few bites that first outing. The length is great for distance, which really helps when throwing a deep diver. The sensitivity is good; I can feel trees well before I hit them which helps me not lose as many baits and it's also a plus to know when it's hitting dirt. The rod also loads up really well. I know a lot of guys opt for a mod-fast or med-fast with baits that have trebles, but the fast action has been really good for me on the deep divers. This rod has enough tip to not pull the bait away from a fish (which is something I would be wary of on a H action), and enough backbone to control a bigger fish (which you're going to catch if you throw a 10XD/spoon/A-rig/swimbait long enough). I have caught about 10 fish over 9 pounds on the swimbait rod, and I've only seen one that I thought might be over 9 that got off. That fish was a LONG ways out, and I really couldn't pin point what happened there. It jumped, but so have most of the other big ones. Anyways. I post a few things on this forum, but this may be some of the best info I ever have to share.

I use Lews reels for years now and love them and I seen that rod for $79 and thought I would try it.. I got 3 or 4 months out it and liked it but it came apart at the handle and is no good.. I put the reel on my Falcon Bucoo Rig Rod II and I like it more than the Lews Rod
