I have a 2007 2 stroke mercury efi 150. Just put 3 brand new batteries in and had it "serviced by tracker marine" but now having issues its never had before. The motor will beep and shut down when idling and when cruising not on plane. On plane the motor runs pretty much fine but did make a beeping alarm once but did not shut down the motor, I shut it down after that. It also feels like its kind of choking down when at idling speeds and progressively gets worse and takes 2 times to turn over when it used to just fire up. At one point during the day yesterday the motor would not start or turn over at all and couldn't even trim the motor from the motor or console (no power). I took the wires off the cranking battery to see if there was a loose connection didn't see anything but thankfully it started back up. The only thing I can think of is that there is some loose wiring somewhere or maybe due to the fact that I stupidly put about a liter of 4 stroke oil a little while back. One last thing the graph on the stern turns on but the screen is blank, it does seem to work after being turned on after a while.. So Ive got no idea any thoughts?

I'd take it back to where it was serviced

Make sure connections are on the battery are stacked largest to smallest and use lock nuts and make sure everything is tight. See if that fixes it

On the depth finder problem. Go to the fuse holder at the battery. I am assuming that it is wired direct to the battery. Take it apart and push the wire through the holder giving you access to the flat tip that touches the fuse. Use very fine sand paper and clean both of the connections on each wire that goes into the fuse casing. Clean it again with alcohol pad, replace the fuse with a new one and give it a try.

What did you do immediately after you "stupidly put about a liter of 4 stroke oil a little while back"? Did you put this into an oil reservoir? Did the engine get run at all? Did you immediately drain the oil tank, etc.? Give us the details. If you ran the engine with that oil, I can't imagine that you wouldn't have caused notable damage. Do you have any understanding of the different purposes of those two oils?

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm going to replace all the connections back there that I can find and fuses. I did remember on my graph sometimes it says low voltage so hopefully that will fix the issue if not back to the dealer I guess.

That four stroke oil will carbon up your two stroke very quickly. That's why it runs on plane but not otherwise. You're going to need a de-carb job. You've got carbon build up in your valves/pistons/injectors. Your problem has nothing to do with electricity. The engine cooled while you had the cranking battery unhooked. That's why it started back up. I hope you only ran it one time with that oil in your fuel.

Please tell me you didn't run it with four stroke oil.
I hate photobucket.

Yea I unfortunately did. I put about a liter in the reservoir. The guy at the repair center said it shouldn't have affected it that much and sounds like a battery issue so I didn't think otherwise not to run it. Now it sounds like I'm going to be in a world of hurt since I did. I just spent just under 2 Grand on some other issues wiyh the boat any idea where dcarb job would cost?

I also thought it might be a wiring battery issue every time I turn my Sonar hummingbird on it flashes a sign low voltage..

I also thought it might be a wiring battery issue every time I turn my Sonar hummingbird on it flashes a sign low voltage.. That's a different issue. It's a voltage issue and may well be due to improper/loose wiring. You can do the de-carb yourself. Maybe one of the TFF mechanics like Gary Purdy will explain how. DO NOT run that big motor until someone who knows a lot more than me looks at it.
