Fished Alan Henry from about 9:30 to about 4:00. Caught 11 bass, biggest was a spot that weighed 2-14. A good LMB about the same size came later. Spinnerbait, took 1, jerkbait took 1 jig took 1 (green pumpkin)and the rest came on soft plastics, M3 color of worm for Zoom, blue fleck for Berkley Power worm. Both Texas riggged and shakey head rigs, about 1/2 and 1/2 on those. Bigger fish came on Texas rigged worms. Things that did not work included: Drop shot; 3 depths of CBs, rattle traps; We did see one spot about 14" long floating on the top of the lake off of a roadbed. Had too big of a bluegill in it's mouth. We killed the blue gill and might have killed the bass, don't know, but it swam back down after being out of the water for about 1.5 mintues while we got the blue gill out of it's mouth. Got pictures of that one. Hope this helps and we look forward to seeing you out at the Working Man's Ts starting on April 15th. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

PS. The lake is getting ready to explode with spawners. We heard some BIG fish in the shallows in Gobbler, but it would have taken a chainsaw to get to them. Didn't see any deep nest, but we weren't looking either. Water temps were 59.5 in the AM ang got to 63.1 PM.

Im still looking for lodging at alan henry . Thinking about just staying in post. I haven't found a working number to see if the store near the entrance still rents the rooms, maybe one of y'all regulars know a number to the store?

Cool fishing report. Never been on Alan Henry before. What fishing line were you throwing your Tx rig? I remember reading you posting about McCoys fishing line Mean Green for CB. Curious if you like their fluorocarbon or copolymer for Tx rig??

Bonedoc,

I throw McCoys Mean Green 20#, 15# and 12# for almost everything. The only thing I DO NOT use it for is my main line for my C-rig. I use Big Game for that and tie on a McCoys Mean Green leader. Don't throw a C-rig at AH, so I fish mostly McCoys. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

My buddy and I have had some success on Shaky head worms. Thad I went back to that same spot in Ince Cove where I lost that big one....didn't catch her but did catch her boyfriend...LOL We are also beginning to catch good numbers late in the evening on topwater. Which is my favorite way to catch them. We are seeing quite a few girls in the backs of coves but have not been able to get them to bite anything we throw at them. But then again I have never had too much success on bedding bass.

Just talked to a buddy that said they caught 20 today. Biggest was a 3.25 lb spot, got a couple of them. Throwing chartreuse/white spinnerbaits and shakey heads. Said find a school and try to fire it up and keep track of them. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck. OH, he only caught 1 small LMB about 1/2 to 3/4 lb. all the rest were spots.
