How many bad days on Fork vs. good days would you say you have had? Would you say it's a 3-1 ratio? 5-1 ratio? Just curious what some of the regulars would say. Thx

Depends on the definition of good and bad.
It's been awhile since I had a day that I consider good.

I will define yesterday as a good day. I caught one fish in about seven hours that weighed about four pounds. That's a good Fork day for me.

Fork to me is all opportunity. This year, I blanked on the Friday before the OT tournament and we caught 25 fish this next day.

Why do you guys subject yourselves to this kind of fishing? Honestly....

If I went to a lake and caught ONE bass in 7 hours...I would be second guessing my hobby or my lake choices. Haha. I know the lake has a few big fish in it. They all have a few big ones in them. But fishing for 7 hours for a bite? Ouch.

My last good day on Fork was about 20 years ago. So my ratio is about 80-1.

I only go to Fork when a buddy convinces me to take him. I can catch em at Ray Hubbard, lake o the pines, Athens, Holbrook, Cedar Creek, Cypress Springs, Bob Sandlin... Pretty much anywhere else I go. I have no interest in returning to the one lake where I've been skunked multiple times

The trouble with Fork is that the lake never lives up to the expectations I have going in. I've caught some decent fish out there, but even if I boat a 6lber I leave feeling disappointed. I haven't fished it a whole lot and I don't think I've gone a full day skunked out there, but compared to other lakes in Texas, I would say I've had zero "good days" as I define them.

Any day fishing is a good day, I have had some tough days at Fork and I have had some of my best. My ratio would be about 3 tough days to every good day. And yes I call it a good day when I catch one fish at Fork, as more times than not that fish weighed 8 lbs.

I think it depends on whether you are someone who wants a chance at one big fish or whether you want to just catch. I believe if you are someone who just wants to catch fish then other lakes may be better. I believe if you are fishing deep in the summer you can have some great days on fork with a C-Rig and a ring fry. You can also have some good nights in the summer fishing fork. I think as mention above their are a lot of good lakes in Texas that will produce more fish on most days then Fork for pure numbers.

For me there are no Good/Bad days, its more like Good/Better.
If I get a chance to go to Fork, spend some time at the trailer with all my friends at the park = Good Day
Do the same and end up catching fish = Better Day

Well said this is what its really about friends and family. The catching is just extra for most of us.

Truly feast or famine for me... I fish it about 10-15 times / year so I'm usually going to areas that I'm filimiluar with, opposed to being dialed into the exact pattern. Fishing this way I'd say my Good 2 Bad ratio is 2 good for every 3 bad... Those good days are usually 10 + fish always with 5+ lb fish mixed in.

That being said I fished yesterday from 9a-6p and caught 3 dinks. That makes 2 bad for this year, I'm due a good!

If i'm posting on here i'd rather be on the water.

Exactly fish
We have a place there. It's home away from home. Friend's in our park, private ramp, gated community.
And catching fish. Sometimes they bite sometimes they don't oh well. Maybe next time.
I think expectations become too high. And the guides pump up the public sometimes to think it's
easy pickins for giants,...ain't so friends. Fork can fish really tough. But for me I cant wait to get back.
We also have learned that there's more than bass fishing...yesterday we went chasing sand bass just for fun..
catching 1-3 pound sand bass with attitudes is a blast. We stopped counting at 80, all were released to
catch again. Fork is all in your perspective.
