BASS PRO SHOP GRAPEVINE SERIES OPEN # 1 - LAKE LEWISVILLE - FINAL RESULTS!

What a day it was to kick off the return of the BPS Grapevine Series today at Lake Lewisville. A total of (32) teams braved the cold morning and the unexpected strong north winds that at times exceeded 25-30mph in the afternoon. The cold front dropped the water temperature and the water clarity was stained making conditions a challenge for the majority of the field braving the elements. Several anglers dropped out early and it appeared that the bite would be a struggle, but that was not the case as these guys flat out caught them under tough fishing conditions. The strong wind and stained water clarity made it very difficult for those anglers who's game plan was to target bedding bass.

Klint Krhorjak and BJ Gammons took the win today with an impressive 17.97 limit anchored by their 7.06 kicker that took overall BIG BASS honors. Wes Price and Gene Barrington took second with 16.21 pounds. Warren Terry and Gary Turner finished a respectable third place finish sacking 14.98 pounds. Fourth place was claimed by Blake Woodall and Matt Cambell with 14.90 pounds. Bill Gammons fished solo and a fifth place finish with 14.62 pounds, and rounding out the top-six was Joe Rome and Eli Deal with 14.07 pounds. Second BIG BASS payout went to Richard Jorge and John Souhrada and their 6.91 fattie!

I'd like to thank all of the anglers for coming out today and supporting the BPS Grapevine Series. Special thanks to all of the anglers fishing this series for the first time, it was great meeting you! The complete final results have been posted below! I look forward to seeing everyone at the next event at Ray Roberts on Saturday April 9th!

Glad to see this back and I'm sure North Texas anglers are too. That's a good turnout and start for the series.

Thanks, Scott, for your outstanding efforts and smooth tourney directing, and thanks to Helen's help. Had a great time and always have a great experience fishing your tourneys. It was good to see a lot of the fishing dudes that I haven't seen in a while. And most importantly, I got to hold LJ's hand, and was proud in doing so.
Fishing was definitely different than it has been. You wouldn't have sniffed a check with 18lbs as it was fishing last week. But, it's all about adapting to conditions. If you weren't flipping into the nastiest stuff and landing right at the base of the bushes, you would not get the quality bites. They were nose in on it. And then getting the fish in the boat was a whole new encounter in itself. This lake is the best I've seen it in the 16 years that I have fished it. I'm glad it's in the shape it's in since my home lake is on "hold mode". LOL
