Fished Athens with a couple buddies today and had an ok day. Water temps ranged from 59-64 in the areas we fished. Males are pushed up on beds but not quite locked on, we saw them all over but could only catch them if we were fan casting the area. Once you could see them they were very skiddish and moved off.
Fished for about 4hrs and boated 8 with a couple break offs, my friend had some old line on to start the day that was the culprit. Seemed like wacky rigged worms and weightless flukes produced the most bites.
Im sure this weather coming up this week will effect them and potentially push them off, but it is getting close out there and im sure itll continue to get better the next couple weeks. Saw quite a few people covering water that didnt seem to be catching too many fish, we caught all ours fishing veryyy slow. Good luck to those who head out there

That's the second time this week I've heard the fluke bite was on. I'll try that tomorrow or Tuesday

I fished Athens from 8am to 2pm yesterday and today. Saturday was a zoo, and only caught a dozen or so. 1200 acres and 1200 boats = ridiculous.
Whoever the old man was that was taking a deuce in a bucket on the front deck of your boat Saturday morning, my hats off to you sir. No shame in your game. I was almost going to ask if you wanted to borrow my iPad... In all seriousness, obviously he was dealing with some health issues, but he was on the water doing what he loved.
Today, my best 5 were easily over 30 pounds, anchored with two 7 pounders. All of my big girls were caught deep, i'll leave it at that. I also caught 5 or so males that were locked on and out of the wind obviously, nothing to write home about. Yesterday and today there were a ton of males up shallow on beds, but very skiddish. I usually dont mess with the skiddish ones. Spending 45 minutes on a 2 pound fish isn't exactly constructive.. Went to the bait shop and got a burger around 2 and called it a day. They've got pretty good burgers.

Fished yesterday and had a pretty tough day. Caught 6 or 7 with a 4 1/2 pounder. That one was locked on a bed, and took about 45 minutes. I was surprised with the beds close proximity - some areas had 7 or 8 beds in a 15 ft. radius. Didn't try out deep as I was caught up sight fishing. Caught them on senkos, flukes, and a tx rig.

all I can say is I want to go out on Athens with you. the males "are" very skiddish right now,,,,,,,,,, but a 30# bag fishing from 8-2 yesterday is pretty darn strong. Out was out there yesterday and have been for 5 years & two 7 pounders along with three 5.5 pounders is one heck of a day. let me say "good job".

Did not see anyone go in or come out of the store. The ramp was a total zoo! Reminded me of Welsh on a cold/wintery Saturday.

Lake Arhens is on fire! I still have some days open in March and April! I would post some pictures but it's saying I can't at this time on my phone. Last Thursday and Friday me and some clients caught atleast 54 bass, the biggest being a 5.6, I found some water that was 68.4 degrees. I seen fish on beds and they was really hard to catch but the other technique we used to catch them was awesome. If u wanna find out just hmu
