So I busted the transducer off my trolling motor at palestine this weekend. When I bought the humminbird unit I chose to exchange the transom mount ducer for the tolling motor one and I broke the tabs off still. Humminbird is replacing ducer no questions asked however I requested to have the transom mount transducer sent and buy the mount from transducer shield and saver to hopefully be more sturdy. Is this the correct decision? Does anyone have experience with that mount is it worth the money will it hold up to abuse? Will I have problems with interference from trolling motor with that ducer. (Xtm 9 di t) going to (xnt 9 di t) Thanks

i use a transducer shield on my trolling motor and have had no problems with it. It leaves the bottom open to allow the transducer to do its thing. I get pretty shallow with it too and sometimes have to clean the mud off the thing.

I'm mounting a Garmin 73 Sv transducer on my troller motor next week. I attached in to a minn Kota troller motor mounting bracket. The bottom of ducer is not directly exposed. Hope it still should get an accurate reading.

I made myself a bracket similar to this one that I use on my T/M. It hits the stump before the transducer does. Now if you go past the bracket and hit the bottom of your transducer on a stump, it can still break. That type guard will protect it from a forward impact.
