What are your opinions on the PG model for deep divers?

I don't have a PG, but I do have the 200i and 200iHG. Both are fine reels. As far as the PG, it has the lower 5.5:1 gear ratio and is rated to hold 110 yds of 14 lb line. I think it would be good for deep divers unless you go up in line size. If you use larger line you might want a little more line capacity.
It would be fine for my personal deep cranking needs.

I have that exact reel and use it for the DEEP divers. With the oversized deep divers, the best reel is one that has a lower gear ratio. Unless you're built like an ox, it will wear you out pretty quickly if you're throwing the big crankbaits on anything above the 5.X:1 range. I haven't had any issues with line capacity and I throw deep divers on 10 to 20 pound test. I also use the PG reel for long-lining the conventional sized crankbaits.
If I'm casting conventional deep divers (DD22s, 6XDs, etc.), I like to use the HG model Curado. That is more of a preference. I like to get them down quickly and bang them off stuff. Get a whole lot of reaction bites that way. Shimano had a reel in the Curado line that had a higher line capacity and it was ideal for long lining deep divers, but it was recently phased out.

Is this the reel you were talking about? The curado 300e is nice! works great for everything. http://www.cabelas.com/product/fishing/fishing-reels/casting-reels%7C/pc/104793480/c/104760180/sc/104259780/shimano-174-curado-e-baitcast-reel/1148885.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fcasting-reels%2F_%2FN-1102352%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104259780

Looks like there are still a few available on various sites. Might have to get another one before they're gone!

I have a couple of them and use it for moving baits like a swim jig, chatter bait and mid depth crank baits. I like a Lews BB1 5-1 for my deep divers a lot better than the 5.5-1 Curado. I also have a Lews Super Duty in the 5.4-1 and like it better than the Curado also.

Couple of casts on my test pond which is about 30 yards. Baby 1 minus, 20 # Big Game, Falcon Original 6'6" medium. Awesome, can't wait to try it out tomorrow.
