Spent two days at Fairfield and it was not easy fishing. Flipping deep into reeds and tall grass is not exactly easy fishing. Tried to fish deeper on points and structure but couldn't get anything going. The lake is loaded with shad 15ft and deeper all over the lake. If I could time the shad spawn it would be easy fishing. Hopefully the frog bite as well. But catching spawning fish just blind flipping to wholes in the jungle is hard work. Anyone catch them deeper? I marked what had to be bass on a few drop offs but couldn't get them to eat. Guess I never got the right angle to trigger them. There is only bass catfish gar carp and crappie inter lake, correct?

I fished yesterday and had one of the best flipping days ever. That lake is loaded with 2-4 pound fish and healthy. Flipping 1/2oz pegged weight with a Lewis and Wright craw worm. Caught 19 bass, but I think the key to bites is I put a rattle in the craw worm. Flipped with out one ,along a section of reeds had 2 bites, Put the rattle back in went back down that same area, caught 5.

Black and blue. And green pumpkin dipped

Yep. Caught about 30 between 6am to 11am. Then nothing. Caught a couple that were over 18". My heaviest fish was 4lb 6oz....short fish. My biggest "keeper" was 4lb 1oz. All mine were flipping green pumpkin Biffle bugs on a Trokar flipping hook and a pegged 1oz tungsten weight. The new Megabass perfect pitch rod is awesome!

Haha. Ran the boat out of gas. Had to troll all the way back to the dock. Thankfully the batteries held up. What a day.

Me too.

Jeremy - I used to fish out there a lot, not so much anymore. But a few spots that always produced a deeper or crank bait bite were the intake mouth, there's a rise there that's about 6-8 feet tall and it used to almost always hold fish. The 1st point north of the dam, it's fairly flat on top (7-8 fow) and drops off into 20-25fow. Cranking that area used to produce pretty well. Another spot is in the SW arm of the lake. If you go into that arm and stay in 15fow or more, you'll see a number of humps on the sonar. Most of them are 3-4 foot rises, some are 5 to 6 feet. All 3 of those spots have produced a deep cranking bite for me in the past, but I have no idea how the bite is right now. Might be worth taking a look.

You all are just awesome! Thanks for the info. I flipped all day Saturday but was not covering enough water to get that many bites. I was 1 for 5 in getting the fish in the boat. Friend put 4 in the boat. Should have just hit the obvious spots where a fish would setup to spawn to cover a lot of water. Just needed to execute as well. Oh well I had a great time out there with a friend. That was my first and second time seeing the lake. I will be back. The fish are healthy and good looking.
