Just bought a 13 fishing concept a and put it on a 13 fishing omen 7'1" heavy and spooled it with 30lb suffix 832, this will be primarily for tx rig, jigs, etc. The reel has up to 22lb of drag and that got me to wondering how everyone sets their drag on a setup like this where should I set me drag?

For what you plan on using it for, tighten it all the way up. You can horse the fish in with braid and a heavy rod. Better to get them out of the thick stuff quickly. The key is learning how to use your rod at the boat to tire the fish out.

25 pound mono or fluorocarbon, heavy rod with heavy hooked jig or t rig and fishing heavy cover I screw it down tight and set the hook and never stop reeling.
Frog or buzz bait on 65 pound braid and heavy rod same thing, screw it down tight and get them out of the cover ASAP.
More of an open area and lighter line and set up and I will loosen it up.
It's all relative to what kind of cover I am fishing and the type of hook that I am fishing.

I tighten it down on a set up like that but on almost everything else I set it to where If i pull the line straight off the end of the rod it will slip but when l pull the line down and bend the rod it stops so when I get the fish to the boat and the fish see you and takes off and I wanna give him some line I just point the rod at the fish and let him take some line

I am just the opposite. Heavy action rod, with braid tied directly to your bait and no drag slippage.....if you have a strong hook set you might just be tearing the jig or Tx. rig out of the fish mouth. I would have some drag slippage in case the fish makes a hard run right at the boat.

I agree. I usually keep the drag locked down pretty tight. But not with straight braid. I want a little slippage on the hookset to keep from ripping the hell out of the fishes mouth. Plus with that line not having any give, it helps a little when fighting the fish.

I do it all by feel based on the pound test line being used.

Don't store your reels with the drag locked down It will flatten out and kill your drag washers prematurely

I do it by feel, also been doing it a long time. Also learned a lot about drags, line weight, knots offshore fishing when I went through that phase in my life.
Thanks, Billy

I set my Steez resls with vice grips. With 10lbs max drag, it's about perfect that way. Lol.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

Thirty pound line with a 22 pound drag? Sounds like broken line about to happen.
Set the drag to about 1/3 the breaking strength to assure it will absorb the initial hook set.
