I just purchased this rod for a price I couldn't pass on, however I think it may be too much rod (X-HVY) for me to use. I know what the description says but Im looking for your advice and maybe someone who has used something like this. I do have some big cranks like the 10-XD and I mainly fish Lake Belton and Stilhouse. Thanks.
CASTAWAY EXTREME DEEP DIVER, 7'6", X-HVY, FAST, 15 - 30, 2 - 4oz.

That rod is designed for throwing the oversized cranks like the 10xd and does a good job it. I own one that I use as a backup but that's only because the Dobyns gets the nod first.

It's for the big cranks only. Smaller cranks it becomes overkill. Also can be used for swimbaits and arigs

The specs indicate a swimbait rod. Same as my St Croix except the length. Not all rods are the same though. I use an XH Fast Falcon Cara to throw lipless cranks on grass. I will also flip and punch with it. The specs on it are nowhere near the same as my St Croix even though it has same action. I would not personally throw a big crankbait with it because I like a moderate taper but that gets into individual preference and not rod design.
