In the last two weeks, I can't catch a cold. Tried it all, including afternoon schoolies (a given on this lake) and I'm not catching anything other than the occasional 9" dink.
To hell with it. Think I'll go up to the White River and catch some 14" rainbows on bait. I can only imagine the headlines: "Giant EPA snafu poisons entire river system in Arkansas! Unprecedented fish kill!".

Jim, don't give up.
Have you tried really downsizing? Spinning tackle, 6 or 8 test, 1 down to a 4 (not 4/0 down to a 1/0) hook size, drop shot rig with a small floating plastic. Roboworm in the 4.5" is hard to beat.
Isn't that something, a big bunch of schoolers and they won't play ball, pass on your offerings.
That's telling you it is August in Texas and time to get really small.

I've downsized to the point that a good sized bream might break me off. Haven't yet resorted to bait, though.
I know it's only temporary, just felt like bitching, I guess.

I feel you. Have been to Amistad a few times this summer and have had better luck fishing out of a kayak around the ponds here. Sure is a lot closer here.
If you ain't first you're last.

Haha. Been there. What I did today, for a change, was went to an old pond across the road from my house. It's behind an industrial center and all but forgotten. I caught a decent bass on EVERY cast, but three. Caught around 30 bass in an hour. Most were around 1 to just under a pound. A few were really good. Two were around 4 lbs each. Best thing? I didn't even have to take the jeep. I walked there. Looked kinda crazy carrying a fishing pole and a few packs of Senkos as I walked down the street. Lol. I think I was the first to fish it in at least 6 or 7 years. Ever since the industrial park was built. It's just kinda forgotten back behind the buildings.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

Yeah I've had a super tough summer, not so much the heat but I think it's been the rising waters. After my lake came up seven foot over night it's been horrible. I think I caught 2 bass in probably 48 hours time on the water. I put the boat up a couple weeks ago. I may go Labor Day weekend.

I think you have a great idea. Take me to Arkansas trout fishing with you. I want to go! :-)
