I don't know about yall, but it really bugs me when I see people post things like this.... "I'm fishing/have a tournament at lake X tomorrow. Does anybody know where to fish and what baits to use? Specific areas and lures would be appreciated?" How are you going to get any better if you're just asking people what to do? Like seriously Go out and figure it out by yourself...

I enjoy reading general reports from guys in the know, but the specific requests about specific spots and tactics drives me crazy.

I have to think they have something dialed in and are just hoping the info posted will sway others in the tourney to the new "honey hole". Kind of a misinformation type of deal

I like when someone asks whats the "best" this or that to use. The "Best" this or that IMHO is what you like. Right or wrong?

What if it a lake hours away from the persons house and the don't have any time due to work or whatever to go pre fish much and they ask for any general advice. Sometimes I think it ok but asking for specific depths, baits, colors, etc.... is a nope.

I agree that some post drive me nuts also BUT what if they're a non-boater and can't go practice. Have no way to fish the lake. There could be a lot of "what if's". You never know someone situation. If they have a boat and then just don't want to practice and put in the time. Different story then.

Haha. Kinda funny IMO. I fish tournaments and would never ask for help. I don't feel that help should be given. I, for this very reason, try to fish every day. And I try to put myself into areas that I know will hold a few bass. Then I spend the time to try different presentations to catch the fish in the area. At the end of every day I write down all the information I have for the day. Water color, depth, temp, shaded/non-shaded, structure type, bait that worked/didn't work, air temp, wind direction, moon phase, etc.

Then next time, at a different lake with similar conditions, I try the same patterns and sometimes it works. I feel that this is the only way to help myself become the type of angler I want to be. And it works. I catch a limit mostly every evening. Even when "fun fishing" with neighbors or friends, in my head I'm keeping track of everything. And I culling in my head as I catch fish.

It's what I do. So I don't do "that". You will never see me post questions asking for direct help. I generally always have a clue after doing "what I do" for many years. The real fun is helping friends and neighbors catch fish when they can't figure it out. When I see someone asking for help for a tourney, I feel cheated. I do my own hard work a research everyday. And have been for years.

Now, if I could only figure out waxahachie lake. Lol.

Constant posts of "tell me where to go, what to use, whats the best bait, color, rod, reel, line..."

Some are about doing the work and earning the satisfaction, the reward and banking the knowlegde that comes with it. Then you have some that are more passive and just want to join in on the fun. It's the "everybody gets a trophy" mentality.

I don't ask for help with anything that I can do or find out for myself.

To some being generally competent seems to be less and less important as time goes on.

I fish as a non-boater and I would never ask that much, about all I ask is lake conditions. If you don't want the challenge and just want everyones info, don't fish tournaments

People want to catch fish--not spend time looking for them. You can't get what you don't ask for. No reason to scoff at them...just avoid those threads.
