I haven't been to Bastrop this summer, but it's about time I hit the schoolies. My past experience has been that there is plenty of action during the heat of the day. Can anyone share what they are finding this summer? PM me if you don't want to post. Thanks.

Check out the Austin Fishing Forum. There are always a few Bastrop reports up there.

Well Pineywoods I went out there about 2 weeks ago and had a pretty good afternoon. I put in at the North shore ramp and went right towards the dam but went into the first cove on the right (Cedar Cove?) I fished my way down the right side staying well outside the grass line throwing a chatter bait and wore em out, with the largest being close to 5 pounds. then I left that spot and headed up the lake towards the south ramp and fished the long bank on my left towards south point cove again staying outside the grass line in deeper water with the same results just not as big. I could see fish breaking the water and I would fan cast into that general vicinity and usually pick up at least one. Hope this helps out , good luck

Killed them three days last week on a shaky head on the outside edge of the grass. When I found patches of hydrilla rather than Zostera (eelgrass), I would tick the grass with a crankbait. The schoolies were hit or miss-mostly miss probably because of the wind.

OK, that helps. Will be out there Thursday and will post results. Funny thing is, I live 1/4 mile from Southshore and almost never fish this lake!
