I've never heard about anybody say they were catching spots there but I'd be curious if someone could confirm that they are truly in there.

Go up the Devils or Rio and you will find more of the native bass.

yup. You can catch spots and especially smallies all day up the river if you know where to find them.

I'm talking spots like they catch in Kentucky and California.... I've never caught one and I fish Amistad a whole bunch.

Because of the past fishing regulations on A. H. I always checked my fish and we were seeing large mouth and spot crosses (eyes back at end of the jaw and stiches under bottom jaw) Started 10 or 12 years ago see the same fish at Amistad.

Not saying there are none in Amistad.
I don't remember ever catching one or even seeing one at a weigh in.
And I have fished the lake a LOT since 1995. fish
