this is just MHO,,, but I think Texas Tournament Fishing is alive and well in the great state of TEXAS !!
Saturday; May 16 --- Lake Athens is still closed by the AMWA, for what reason I don't know because the water has gone done significantly,,,,, but that's another story...... so I need a place to fish,
FORK --- nope, Legends Tournament; 1000 boats Toledo Bend --- nope, Sealy Big Bass; 1000 boats LBJ --- nope, Bass Champs; 180 boats so I decide to go to Palestine since it is only 30 minutes from my house and there have been god reports from it lately,,,,,,, Palestine --- wrong, Texas B.A.S.S. tournament out of Palestine Resort; 100--120 boats
Now I know Texas is big and there are a lot of fishermen in the state, but "C'mon Man" that is a whole lot of Tournament Players on the same weekend, within a 3 hour drive of each other. and I am not even looking at the small local tournaments anywhere. I think the fishing industry is alive and well.
BTW: I still launched at the Lake Palestine Resort, after all the BASS guys & just fished right in Highsaw Cove. Caught 20 or so between 7 & 11am loaded up before they started coming back in and was home for lunch and a nap before watching Rory shoot "61". 11 lb bass & a round in the 60's,,,,, wouldn't that be nice.

Haha. This is why my response in the thread regarding "fishing frustrations" was "other fisherman". Man... Seems like everywhere I go there is someone following me. And fishing right up to me. Drives me nuts.

1000 boats on TB is nothing, why should that bother anyone on a 180,000 acre lake.

There's actually 2300+ Entries that makes about 1500 boats for Big Bass Splash.

Just bustin' chops, Nutman, hence the smiley... You went down the list of places you could fish, and discounted all of them with tourneys.

so drive two hours from your home and hit another 20 possible places to fish,,,,
Texas has more lakes. Except for maybe Alabama and Florida we have lakes everywhere. Not all huge but for just your boat any would be fine.
Like the others said even with 1000 boats at Rayburn or 700 at Fork that does not cover the whole lake.
Now 2300, that is a lot of boats.

Water levels stay up tournament circuits can spread out. One of my fondest dreams. When half the lake is fishing East Texas every weekend it gets a little congested.

I've wondered about this... Some lakes get hammered and are relatively small (read LBJ) and other lakes that are bigger get NO TOURNEY LOVE (read Whitney).
I don't get why Whitney never draws "big tourneys" No champs, no opens... just weird to me, wish there would be some cause its close to us and I fish it regularly

Forgot about the HS state championship on Lake Tyler. Guessing 200+ boats there.
