Guys, Im finally getting to make it out to fork on Wednesday. I have never been and will be staying at Trophy Lodge. Im going out to get a little familiar with lake because im fishing the skeeters owners tourney and don't want to go out blind. I will be traveling from Abilene and staying Wednesday night fishing Wednesday and Thursday morning. I will be bringing a friend who has had his left leg amputated(due to Iraq) What ramp/dock would be best or easiest for us to get him in and out of the boat??? Also I know the lake has come up a lot I will be looking for floaters but my biggest fear is hitting one of those stumps. Are the boat lanes clearly marked? Any help would be greatly appreciated, not really looking for fishing tips but ramp accessibility and boating guidance.

run parallel to the bridges and follow thebuoys and you will be fine. 515 west public ramp as well as lake fork marina have good ramps with courtesy docks you can easily roll down or crutch down. at lake fork marina show up early and ask one of the guides if you can follow them out the first time so you'll know how to run to boat lanes.

^^^^ This. The lake level has risen a lot in the last month. If you have never been on it beware. I'm amazed at the amount of widow makers that are covered up.

If you go out of LFM head straight out to the green pasture across the lake to the boat lane buoy.

Are staying at the lodge on 515? If so they use to have a ramp and dock. Don't just follow any yahoo off the marked boat lanes. I have watch people running where they should not be I keep waiting to see a motor ripped off or stunt man jump. However that weekend you should be able to follow the crowd. Just take notice where majority run or get a guide chip. I have no info on catching. I stink right now and have blanked the last two trips but lake is ripe for a newbie to get into them.

I've been going to Fork since 1983. I still need help!

Seriously, $35 for Lance Vick's boat lane chip is money well spent. A $12 Martin map is a great study beforehand or in the room at night. Choose safe over sorry when running the lake and even idling into coves. Full pool can fool you. Good luck.

The boat lanes chip lays out safe travel routes that the map won't show you. If you're not where the bouys are or in a lane from the chip I suggest you be on the TM or idling, unless you like getting your boat repaired.

if you are on 154 use the Minnow Bucket...they have a long dock that is currently 6" above the water....perfect for him to get on the deck and be comfortable.

Frog bite is on right now with all the flooded cover and brush. Caught plenty yesterday on frogs and a few other baits.
