And I threw it back because the brochure said it had to be 18 inches to keep. Mine was a little over 16 inches and the lake record is 14.25.

How can it be a record if it can't be kept? Nice smallie regardless but can they actually count it?

Idk, that's why I threw it back. Figured it was illegal to keep.

That last is outdated. I know for a fact that the largemouth has gone to 9lbs. I know a few people have caught some smallies but I don't know if they ever weighed them. Nice fish though. You don't catch very many of them out there

Junbengreat,

A great fish! Glad to see you photographed it, tossed it back in where it belongs.

What were you using?

I can see you were out toward the dam and it seems most of the smallmouths are caught over there.

I was out yesterday and had a blast. The lake is "over full pool" as they are pumping water in to get ready for a long summer. For anyone who hasn't been out there in a month, the swimming pier over to the north side? One could sit on the edge and their feet would almost dangle in the water!

Mr. Gunter, at the entrance, said that the inlet area had been very productive. I believe he said one young man caught two walleyes, others had caught some nice catfish, that LMBs were being caught on crankbaits. So, I decided to go away from that toward the dam but two others went over and I believe the one fisherman caught 2 bass on his first 3 casts using a crankbait.

The lake is clouded up now with all of the new water, certainly toward the inlet and the boat ramp areas but clearer back in the coves on the west side of the lake.

Brad

Caught it on a chatterbait with a Lake Fork swim bait trailer. Fish are mostly shallow right now. Our deep summer spot still didn't have any fish on it.
