So me and the wife somehow got into a game of "would you rather" and she asked the question "Would you NOT fish for one year for $1,000?" My Answer was h3ll no! Give me $10,000 and I would consider it but it would be extremely tough. I'm sure for some of you there's no amount of money that would keep you off the water for a year. I understand it's not about the money at that point. But it just got me thinking.

Name your price!

hmmm, that is a tough one. $10,000 could go a long way in fishing gear and trips for the subsequent year HA. If it is Tax free money, I think I would consider a year off for the $15,000 range. But then again, some things money cant buy and fishing is the ultimate get away for me so I might go crazy with out it for a year

Are we talking about not TOURNAMENT fishing or doing any sort of fishing? Cause if I can find a decent pond to go wet a line, that usually relieves my itch in between tournaments. Then I'd definitely take the $10,000

I guess I would do it for $100K. I wouldn't be any fun at home. I suck at golf and video games.

10,000 tax free... and stipulate that you couldn't spend money on anything fishing related... If somebody would front that money then yes I would do it. 10,000 would leave debt free except for the mortgage and allow us to trade in my wife's car and owe nothing on the new one. It would be VERY hard at 10,000... at 15 its way eaiser, at 20 I'm in for sure... I would b doing a BUNCH of pig hunting though lol

I might actually save $10,000 if I didn't fish for a year. Wouldn't be buying tackle, gas money, tourney fees, hotel rooms, etc. Ok, so probly not $10K but at least a thousand or two.

Not fishing for a year would probably cost me more money than I would save or earn because I most likely take up something even more expensive like drag racing to occupy the time

The love of money is the root of all evil. Giving up a hobby you love for a year, for a few dollars, seems pretty foolish to me.

I could not do it, at all.
It would be less than three days and I would be out sneaking a cast....

If you're a guy that only fishes a time or two every couple of months, then I don't think it's that big of a deal, but if you're a serious fisherman, then I think later in life you'd look back and regret giving up that one year of time on the water.

I only get to fish a couple weekends a month. I also golf and hunt and chase me kids around. So I could stay busy when not fishing. But there is just something special about being on the water at first light, on a calm day, and watching the world wake up around you. So, I'm not saying no amount of money would keep me off the water, but it wouldn't be cheap.

I paid 10K for my little baby girl (birth) and fish very rarely in the last year(only fishing special occasions and to keep the carb unclogged, I used to fish 3-5 days a week, all over.). Wouldn't trade the time with her for nothing!!

Does that answer the question?

I currently fish 3-4 times per week. I am 10 minutes from being in the water at Lake Athens.
buy my boat and give me $3K and I will not fish for a year.
I will even donate all my gear to a high school fishing team.
