How long does it generally take for a creek arm/part of a lake to go from muddy water from lots of run off to clearing up?

lots of factors to consider, but one of the biggest is the presence of aquatic vegetation. If there is grass present this will slow the movement of the water and let the sediment settle and it will clear up faster.
