Going up to Palestine for a weekend fish fry (hybrids not bass). But will spend a lot of time bass fishing. Will be towards the middle\lower half of lake. What are the bass doing out there? Any info would be great. Thanks.

What are the hybrids doing? Haven't heard of anyone having any luck with them this year on Palestine. The bass will be moving shallow or staging in 4'-10'. I would start by beating the banks in coves where the water temps are higher. Throw soft plastics shallow and lipless or squarebill crankbaits in the staging areas. Good luck!

I was asking about the bass (fish fry will be whites but I am more concentrated on some decent bass fishing), more of what stage they are in from mid-lake to the dam. Thanks for the info.

May be a little early, but the best luck for Hybrids I've had is the hump mid way between the "Horse Ranch" and Cobb. If you get a chance to fish it let me know if they were there.

Just saw you were asking about bass...I've caught them on beds for the last two weeks in Saline and Highsaw/Ledbetter. I saw a ton of empty beds on Sunday in these areas and a few beds were occupied. The only fish I caught were on beds Sunday, not sure what this weeks weather has done to them.

Palestine has been a hard lake for me this year. Don't know what's going on but it's been strange.

I've been biting my lip on that one all day! Beat me to it!

Seriously though, I'm pretty much the last person in the world who would know how to catch fish at Palestine, even though it's my home lake.

Stew, Thanks, I will check out that hump and let you know if they are on it! I do enjoy Hybrid fishing there and have had some bonanza days. A couple years ago, about this time I was out and a nasty North front was coming with some awful t-storms and temps that dropped 30 degrees. I got into a school of Hybrid and I don't think I caught one less than 7 lbs. Caught around 20 fish before the front forced me off the water. Best hour of fishing I ever had!!

First thing I wanted to say. I was there early this week. Look around on some of the flats close to Kickapoo, then on the very first break. Go get'em.
