Not meaning for this to sound critical, but if you want to use water dogs do you really need a guide? Unless you are in need of a boat, just throw them where the bass are and let the dog do the talking.
There used to be a guy everyone called "pork chop" that used them and blue gill, but I don't know if he still guides or not.

I would recomend Dale Bestwina, he will still be fishing live bait the next couple weeks I think, he only does for about a month though prespwan. Doesn't use waterdogs, but big old shad. www.dbestguide.com/

I don't see what's the big deal with using live bait to fun fish. Everyone on here acts like its a sin. It should make it easier on a guide.

It's legal and the bible says nothing about it.....LOL. However, the bass fishing purist believe to truly show off your talent as a fisherman, you use plastic. You know, taking something artificial and fooling one of God's spookiest creatures to leave their habitat and come share a moment in yours, even if for just a picture.

live bait fishing isn't easy, there is a technique to it like other fishing. I did it 4 years ago and our hook-up rate was only about 40%. Dale uses circle hooks and they don't swallow, all fish easy to remove hooks from mouth no blood. you will get more bites and because of the huge shad anything that bites is at least a 4-5 pounder. it was a slow day for us with several 5's and two 8's. Dale gets clients on a 9-10+ about every other trip. I don't have a problem with it at all, but I have only fished artificial since.

I've never fished live bait myself. I just don't understand how this thread has been up for 3 days and not one of the 87 guides on fork has accepted.
I was just wondering what the big deal about fun fishing with live bait is.

If you are going to use waterdogs DO NOT let them set for more than a few seconds before moving them. The catfish love these things and if let set for very long all you will catch are big catfish.
