I've got a potential claim on my hands. The outermost seal on the prop shaft is ripped to shreds from the one thing we all love and hate... fishing line. I drained the plugs only to reveal that all of my lower unit oil was replaced with water.
I'm not sure how long that seal has been out, I just happened to spin the prop with my hand the other day and felt some roughness. I'm not sure how much damage is done internally, but I'm sure it will surpass my deductible... assuming it counts as a claim.
Any info on a straight-laced boat mechanic would be great.
thanks.

Tommy and his guys at Rockwall Marine are GREAT. I would not trust anyone else in this area IMHO. Martin Pro Outdoors is in the area and he's great as well. He has fixed many of my problems very QUICKLY and without any added costs! www.martinprooutdoors.com You are in Ft Worth, there are a few shops over there that would fix you up. I see guys praise Lance at FunNSun on here all the time. I lost my cool with Lance years ago on a problem boat I bought from Fun N Sun, but looking back on it- i dont believe he was in the wrong as there was a crack in the block that only showed intermittently.

I've had great experiences with North Texas Marine off the 820 service rd just east of hwy 156. They've had my boat twice, both times the work was excellent and the boat was ready in the time frame they said it would be. http://www.northtexasmarine.com/

Rockwall Marine in Rockwall, Fun n Sun in Hurst, or Gunter Marine in FT Worth... whichever is closer. Mark Gunter has been around for ever and only works on Mercs.
