I am currently having an isue with my 45lb thrust edge trolling motor. when in use the trolling motor randomly shuts off while in use. Then after waiting for a while it decides to kick back on and work again. the speed is significantly slower than when I first got the trolling motor. It is about a year old and It isnt the battery because I just bought a new one thinking it was the problem. If anyone has an idea of what is wrong that would be great!

Sounds like the same issue I was having with my 65lb maxxum. I checked all of the wiring and fuses and couldn't find anything wrong. Ordered a new armature, brushes and seals from Northland marine and replaced and solved my problem. I was getting a little water in the lower unit and the armature was burning up. Pretty easy task and you can find several videos on youtube to see how to do it. Its like I have a brand new motor.

I had what sounds like the same problem on my Minn Kota Edge 70. I didn't have the "significantly slower" speed deal, it would just randomly shut off and on.
Several people recommended that it could be the armature, so I replaced it myself (wasn't bad to do), and sure enough, that fixed it.
