I just sold a 20' Basscat, and am looking for a more family friendly boat, as well as one that is smoother. Any input would be appreciated. Unfortunately I have to deal with wind, and sometimes get caught in high winds - so I am looking for a boat that is safe in rough water and some what smooth. The center console bay boats that I have noticed and seem to be a modified V vs an over glorified jon boat are the Lowe 20' bay, the G3 deluxe 20'bay and the Xpress H20B. All three look pretty similar to me.

Does anyone own any of the above 3 and can give me any input? I am also considering a Deep V. aluminum boat like a Lund or Alumacraft - and thought maybe a Tracker Targa - but that is just to big of a boat. Deep V aluminum boats seem to be pretty rare down in the southern United States.

Thanks.

About the best ride, that I know of, you can get on an aluminum boat is the Hyperlift hull from Xpress. Pretty sure that H20B you mentioned is built on a hyperlift hull. It won't ride as good as a glass boat will, but not nearly as rough as a mod-v either.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

If you are you want smooth riding in wind as a high priority, then a deep v is what you want. I run a 20' mod v, not happy in wind
