Hi, I'm asking this for a friend of mine. He's bought one and had everything all hooked up and ready to go. We find out on the lake the Ulterra keeps shutting off when we tried to speed it up. We tried doing the spot lock and once in awhile it will shut off too. Both batteries are fully charged. In fact one of the batteries is brand new (Everstart). All connections are tight and good. Old batterry is good. Another thing once the trolling motor is on it interfered with the fish finder. Any ideas? Thank you ladies and gentlemen.

A good battery and a bad battery becomes two bad batteries. Will not work.

I can second that and guarantee it.

I had my motor shut down on me once. Had circuit breakers attached to the cables at the battery I guess it got hot and tripped one. Almost never found the reset pin to push in.

Thank you so much on tips. I'll have him get a new battery and I'll look at the circuit breaker. Thanks again.

On the spot lock, if the GPS is having difficulties tracking, sometimes it will signal this with a trill sound. If it does this more than once, you can bring the motor up to the horizontal position and then back to the water and that will reset it. It the cord gets wrapped around once or twice and limits the movement, it will also make a trill sound and spot responding until the pressure is taken off the unit by unwinding the cord.
