I have a 2004 25hp yamaha outboard motor. It needs some serious love and attention. Does anyone know a mechanic on the NE side of san antonio. Thanks for the help.

I went to Holiday Marine in New Braunfels several years ago and wasn't very impressed. At the time, I had an older boat and the guy just kind of brushed me off and said, "whole motor needs to be rebuilt." This was after it was rebuilt a couple of years earlier...

I've heard there's a guy in Seguin that's pretty good and I'll try to use him next time.

Sooner or later someone's going to recommend Boerne Marine to you. They have a good reputation on here, but I haven't had the best experience with them. First it was $1,000+ for a carburetor rebuild that only fixed about 75% of the problem. But that's not my biggest beef with them. I broke the transducer on my side imaging, so I had them replace it. When I got the boat back, the GPS wouldn't work, so I took it back to them. The service guy was busy, so he handed me off to Ken, the owner.

They couldn't find the service record for replacing the transducer. Then, Ken (the owner) looks at the transducer and swears up and down that it wasn't them who replaced it because of something he could see on how the zip-ties were done for the cable. I couldn't even think of a response... I obviously knew that it was them who had worked on it, but he claimed that they didn't do it because a worker didn't follow some "zip-tie protocol"??

So a few minutes later the maintenance guy comes over, explains that they had "changed computer systems" and that's why they couldn't originally find the record of them replacing the transducer, but he had just found it. Ken then looks at me and emphatically says, "We did work on it!" Well, that's wasn't news to me.

So I had to buy a new GPS puck after taking it for them to replace the transducer; not the best experience. On top of the experience of the owner trying to talk me out of something I knew; that they're the ones who worked on it.

So where should people take their boats in the San Antonio area?
