 Yamaha 225 sho prop

I have a brand new yamaha 225 sho and blew out my old vented 25 pitch prop. Looking for one now. Anybody have any recommendations? Probably will be going with a 27 pitch since I was a little over 6200rpm with the motor trimmed up full speed

SHO's take a non-vented prop. Probably a 26P FXP

Yamaha suggests non vented simply because it's not needed. However they told me it would not hurt anything. Yes if you have a 27p vented prop I would like to try it. The fxp prop is a little easier to turn that the sho prop. I am debating on trying a 26p tempest plus. This way I can adjust the vents.

See the Plano marine told me that the 250s definitely couldn't run a vented prop. They said it would just blow out and not ever get on plane. Mine ran it until it blew the rubber seal inside it. They said since the motor has so much power they usually won't run a vented prop. Only had 5 hours on the boat so didn't get to play with theax rpms much. Had two people and a 115lb dog today and with it trimmed up it was around 6200rpms. Give or take some. A friend has a 225 on a Ranger with a 27 so I figured I could go with a 27. Wish I had one to try first

2016 cougar with blades and my big self tournament day needs a 25p sho to get a load up. Ranger z520c with a 250sho and single pole it takes a 26fxp. Both of these boats have hydraulic plates. The 25sho prop is harder to turn than a 25 t1 prop. I would like to try a 27p vented. But I want a tempest plus so I can change vents. If you're around Rayburn anytime I have a 26p sho prop you can try.

I would get the prop re-hubbed and have some cup put in it. Should bring rpm`s down. call Josh at 903-763-0200 he does a good job with quick turn around.

Josh at Steve's Custom Props can weld up those slots on your vented prop.

The newer sho motors have weaker tunes in them and do like to vented just a bit.
