..need to pick your brain. Merc 250 xb
Engine over heating, no water coming out.
Pulled the lower unit, impeller in tact. Doesn't look that bad, but going to replace it and thermostats since I have it apart.
It's not discharging any water at all, idle or revved. Warning buzzer comes on in about 5 mins

Any ideas if it's not the impeller? Thermostats look v
Good. Haven't put them in hot water yet though.. But figured I would replace them anyway

Ran it two weeks ago and no issues... Today, alarm sounded unloading it....
Thoughts?????

What motor? If it's a optimax a clogged discharge tube will cause a compressor overheat and give you the same alarm

mud daubers, pull the thermostat covers and use a hose to flush, see if water is circulating.

that is all I got.

Mike, I bet the thermostat got debris in them. If they haven't been replaced in awhile, I'd do it. You can put them in a saucepan with hot water to get them to open and get some tongs and move them back and fourth. Most of the time, you'll see wood chips. If you decide to reuse them after you clean them and you see them cycle at the right temp, check the rubber seal and replace gaskets (if not perfect). I replaced mine, just because, a year ago and I think they went to a different part number. I think it was a little higher operating temp... I can't remember 100%. I too have the XB.
Contact Rockwall Marine or Don Weed on BBC for clarification and/or parts.

Thanks everyone...
Ended up being a spun water impeller.... Impeller was replaced last year...

Thermostats were good....
Got the impeller changed and it shows good pressure and strong stream....
