I have always run the tilt all the way down while stored in the boat barn. I now have a need to store it at almost a full tilt in order for the lower unit to pass over the front of a ultility trailer that I have stored behind the boat. My question is: If I lower the motor to drain all the water from the motor before backing it into the barn would it cause any problems with the motor to leave it tilted up while in storage? Thank you for any inputs on this question. The engine is a 90 hp Mercury four stroke.

I have had the same motor for almost 30 years. The only time I drain the water in the lower is if it is going to freeze. I have always stowed with the motor up and resting on the transom saver. The only thing I have done to lower is machine the clutch dog, replace the reverse gear and replace seals.
