Well, being the cheap SOB that I am (really it's the wife, but I can't say that out loud), I just bought an old '84 Ranger 20'1" 395V set up in the Fish and Ski configuration with a 235 Evinrude.

As near as I can tell, Ranger's idea of a F&S was padded tops on the rod lockers and padded surrounds for back rests, dual consoles, and a socket for a seat in the middle of the boat, which is fine with me, as I can't stand the windshield in most F&S's. I would like a larger front deck, but for $3K I'm not going to complain.

It came with a "vintage" LCR 8000 Humminbird (that works perfectly for what it is), so it's getting replaced with a Raymarine Dragonfly 5 DVS, and if I like it, I'll move it to the front and install a 7 series at the console, but I plan on toughing it out with the one for now. The cool thing about the 7 (and the 4 and 5 Pro series) is the feature that will transmit the image on the screen to your smartphone, so you don't really need one on the bow, but it may be a PITA to view while fishing with a phone in one hand, lol.

Another interesting feature is the two working Lowrance flashers that I have no clue how to operate or read other than getting a vague idea of where the bottom is.

All-in-all, I'm digging it so far, although it is one heavy pig compared to my 15' Skeeter SF115.

Nice ride...would prolly avoid having your phone out a lot on the front deck but I'm a worry wart.

Yeah, I can see myself dropping it in the lake. It says it will synch with most Android devices, so you might be able to use a cheap tablet on a mount or something, but I doubt that would be very practical, especially if it's raining or in rough water. I see the Wi-Fi feature more as a novelty, but it is cool that you can view, send, and share whatever's on the screen to a cell phone or tablet, even if it's just a screen shot of something cool in the water.
