Let me begin by saying I have no experience saltwater fishing nor have I ever been out in the bay. I'm headed to Port Aransas in July and I was thinking about taking my duck/bowfishing boat to do some bay fishing and bow fishing. I have a 1989 16' Lowe aluminum center console with a 50hp motor. Should I have any reservations about using this boat in the bay?
Thanks

Galvanized trailer? I'd stay in the shallow bays like Estes. Better pushing off a sand bar than getting swamped by a tanker wake.

Pat, I don't have a galvanized trailer.
I'll look up the area, thanks for the input.

If you have a painted steel or bare steel trailer it will rust to oblivion with use in salt water. Even galvanized gives in with time.

Steel trailer and salt water will cause a lot of pain in a few months. NOTHING will prevent cancer from starting. Don't listen to the Louisiana or Beaumont marsh guys squawk, their "saltwater" is 1/100 as salty as the lower coast.
