96 200 EFI. Ranger 487VS The motor has a lot of slack in the sleeve that enables the motor to turn back and forth - it is cast iron, I believe. when on the trailer I can pull the motor up and side to side and their is more play than there should be. When at WOT I get an occasional slight skip - can be left or right. The hydraulic steering has been completely serviced so I do not believe that is causing the skips. Anyone have similar problem, or experience with getting the sleeve replaced? I can't be good considering where it is located...

Which part are you talking about?

Not sure. Maybe the cast iron sleeve is worn, possibly bushing - if there are any. I don't really know which parts are worn, causing the problem, or what's involved to fix it.

Found this on site - similar to what I have going on. Any experience out there with what this may cost to repair?

When servicing the swivel bushings- ALL wear components should be replaced:

-Thrust Washer
-Bushings (2)
-Seal (upper)
-O-ring (lower)
-Spacer
-Lock Ring

-Swivel TUBE and YOKE (if there is ANY play at the spline, or if tube is worn at bushing area).

You're not running a Baystar steering system are you?

Mine is Sea Star. Thought that was the problem. Had it serviced. Didn't fix it frown
