I have a 1989 150 xr4 merc carb eng. When I put in in gear, it dies. I can adj the idle up but it seems to fast of a idle and I am afraid it will brake the engage gear, what ever they call it. Help !!!!

First you need to check if all cylinders are hitting at idle. Many things can cause this.
