I have a 1992 88 hp johnson spl. It quit pumping water so i droped the lower unit to find the impeller cup was wore. So i replaced it but not the impeller. Put everything back in and its pumping water again. Took the boat out to find it blew a head gasket. Replaced both sides as to one was definitely blown. I started it and it was leaking water from exhaust housing cover? The flat cover between the heads. Fixed that and now it starts and runs fine but still overheating. Any ideas????

Cast it, reel it, jerk it.

If it overheated, you probably need to replace water diverters (which may have melted), thermostats and poppit valves.
