Ok, need some guidance here. I've have a project boat, a 1997 Sprint 207. On the main drain, I believe there is supposed to be some type of tube? There is nothing lining the hole. I was going to put a screw type gar board plug fitting on the outside, but I'm concerned about this hole. I don't like the exposed wood in it. Do I need to get one of the flanged type brass tubes, flare it, then put the garboard plug outside it? I read a couple posts about cutting a piece of pvc, but I'd just as soon do it right. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Yes you can get the tube and tool to flare the ends. Google drain plug tube. http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/document.do?docId=1022
