Do y'all think it makes any difference if you mix two different brands of oil...especially if one is a synthetic?

My partner has a Mercury 250 XB. He is using Quicksilver and we need to fill up on oil. I have two gallons of Castrol synthetic blend that I won a while back. Is there any reason not to use the Castrol mixed with the remaining Quicksilver?

He doesn't think so, and I think he is probably right. Are there any mechanics or other "experts" (aren't we all...LOL) on board who want to chime in?

Pure synthetic is the best. It has low smoke and keeps the engine cleaner.

One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!

Go to the boats and motor section and ask Optiman. He is a guru on this stuff.
