Going to change my fuel filter on a 2012 115 Mercury two stroke pro xs. Is there anything I need to be aware of or just pull it, oil O rings on the new one and install? Thanks

Does the Mercury have a water separator on it?
I have watched a few videos on maintenance on YouTube for various things that were helpful.

I'm not sure about a water separator. Just drained the old gas out and going to pull the filter right now. Thanks

I would suggest getting the removal tool to remove the red top fuel filter in the VST that is also were the water sensor is located. Those filters are a b#$@ch to get out without the tool...Opti

All Done!! I tried to get that filter out with a screw driver but all it did was break the ears off of it. Before I broke more off, I got the tool and holy moly it was a B#$@ch to get out. I've had this boat for six years and never did a thing to it until this week. New batteries, plugs, fuel filter, lower unit gear oil, pulled prop and greased shaft. Time for a test drive!! Thanks for the input, it is very much appreciated!

You really need to get the remaining fuel and ? in the bottom of the VST below the fuel filter. I use a suction bulb.
