I'm looking at a boat with a 2004 Suzuki 115 outboard motor that seems to be in great shape. I don't know much about the Suzukis. Are they reliable in general or a POS?

I have a 2016 Suzuki 175 and I really like it. Seems to be very dependable. I know the guys down south have been running them for years due to their dependability in salt water.

Have had a DF150 for 4 years now. It has never given us any trouble, is easy on gas and maintenance seems pretty straight forward.
I would recommend them.

I have a 2007 150. Previous owner used it in saltwater. I had it for 2 years now with no problems at all. Great on gas too.

I dont think weight difference on a 4stroke 115 is that much more than a 2 stroke 115. I may be wrong, but its only 4 cylinders, not a big 6 cylinder like 200hp & up. I have heard good things about Suzuki 115 four strokes as far as smooth running, long low rpm use, fuel consumption, low upkeep costs, good longevity & they ARE pretty torquey little motors. Not speed demons but, thats not what theyre built for.

I had the 115 on a 24' pontoon. That was the quietest little engine I've ever had. Never had any problems with it. My first suzuki. Would definately buy another. They use them alot on the coast.
