Looking at an evinrude 88spl and I'm wondering if that's a decent motor?
Also do you think it's enough to push a 50' boat that's built pontoon style, drafts about 10", and weighs about 9000 pounds?

On a calm day you can easily move the boat by hand, and it's only rated for a 120. I'd change the prop out for a higher torque prop obviously.

I had a Merc I wanted but the guy ended up not having controls for it so this is my other option.

Your trying to push a 50 foot boat with 88hp?
