I have a 2014 4 stroke 150 HP Mercury and the prop seems very loose to me. I have called Mercury and they tell me it should have some play in it because it is a new design and is ok. I stopped by a couple dealers and repair shops and they are telling me the same thing. The prop has a brass insert in the prop that slides down over the drive shaft and then the prop fits over it. But know one can tell me the amount of play it should have. Does anyone know what the tolerance should be?

the hub assembly should NOT have any play in it at all.

end play is normal in the prop shaft itself.

my guess is.. you need to install a "forward bushing" into the plastic sleeve.
that will keep it all tight.
