Hello fellows. I have a 1989 skeeter with a 89 pro v 150 Yama. My transom at the bottom is bad( rotten). I have two options.
1. Get it fixed. Steel plate or transom redone. Price unknown at this time.
2. I have a buddy that had a 2003, 20or21 ft, nitro hull in great shape, motor is blown. He wants 1500 for the hull. My skeeter is 18ft. Would the 150 push a larger boat okay. I know I would loose speed but honestly I don't go wide open. Don't like 60 on water. Lol. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like an easy choice.... 89 hull versus a 2003? Better jump on that deal quick! You're right about the loss of speed. Right setup and prop I think you might get close to 60 in a 20 footer. Not sure.Maybe someone with those two length Nitro's can give their estimates.

I think you should take that hull for 1500 if the blown motor is still on it, sell your rig emphasis on good motor and then fix the motor on the big boat.

A 150 is going to be overworked and worn out trying to push that 21' hull.

Otherwise, look into a product called sea cast for your transom if your any good at diy. Probably your cheapest route, others on here have done it.

Sounds like a lot of boat for a 150. Sea cast or one of the other brands would be the way that I would go. Not much more work than swapping out the motors that you are proposing. It should run you about $400 for the material. I did my boat last year and my transom is hard as a rock. I used another brand but I swear by it so far.

Scrap the skeeter, you can usually sell the boat and trailer for 3-500 to someone who enjoys a good project. Use the 150 on the triton till you can get the blown motor rebuilt. The sell the 150 for enough to get a few goodies on the triton. The bigger boat will be alot for the lil 150 but it will push it when propped right. You will have to go way down in pitch though.

I dont know why I was thinking triton. I was probably just talking to a customer about one or something. With the boat propped right it shouldnt make much or a difference. Either way I would have the 225 rebuilt and go back to it at a later date.
