Have a 2011 Z8 with a 200 OptiMax and "blew the engine" ROD??, took it in and found still under 4 year Gold warranty. Dealer says Merc sometimes sends a whole new upper unit, and sometimes just a block replacement where all my old components go back on. He stated there were 3 other motors in at the same time for the same failure. The oil injection seemed to be working. Question is: What components would you replace if old ones going back on just as a precautionary measure and is there something that should also be done to the lower unit, maybe like flushing it due to fragments. Thanks

Will not effect the lower unit, any fragments will go out of the exhaust. I would want a new water pump, is about all on the lower.

Thanks, boat fully rebuilt in one week by dealer. They said Air injection valve bad and that it what caused the problem. Mercury covered the full amount which totaled around $8,000.
