I have a 1984 Evinrude 150 with the Hopalong electric fuel pump.

Motor starts like it came off the line on the first start of the day but when I let it sit for 20 minutes it fusses it does not like starting. I can smell fuel and would bet it is flooded. I need suggestions to get it to start after it sets for s while. What do I have wrong? Carbs?

If you smell fuel I would think the enrichment solenoid could be leaking by or your some of your bleed valves are bad. Not sure your motor has the bleed valves. They are supposed to prevent puddling of fuel in the intake. You can disconnect one of the small lines out of the enrichment solenoid and turn electric pump on to find out. What sparkplugs are you running?

I am using the UL77V. Should I change them to gap plugs? I'll check that solenoid. If it is leaking can I just disconnect it since I have the electric pump and don't need to choke it?
