first off this is a johnson 88 outboard...went out today to start the boat and it would not stay running without the choke on...took the cowel off and noticed gas coming out of what i think is the fuel pump with a little red triangular "switch" on it with an insert in that that looks like a fitting to hook up and air chuck too...the gas is coming out around that??

thanks for any info

The part that is leaking is your choke primer, this injects fuel to you motor when you push the key switch inn while cranking cold engine. That is a sep. problem from it not staying running. The choke works or the motor would not run better when you pushed it, it just leaks when doing its job. That red part will crack and leak fuel,or the o-ring around it will leak. Your running problem is probably clogged carbs, from sitting. Dont try seafoam, that product is for maintenance treatment fuel additive not a sub. for carb job. If you need parts or repair call me. 281-312-9856 cary

JMBruce-

I am one of Cary's more recent customers, and if you're having a small problem intermittently, don't hesitate to get it looked at by Cary...

He does fantastic work that's fairly priced and quick...
