I have my insurance through farmers along with my home and my vehicle insurance. You may check into it, I think most companies will give you a break for having all your insurance with them.

Progressive is mine. It was the least expensive I found. I totaled my trailer and lower unit/Prop a few months after I bought my rig (jack knifed avoiding a deer going 70 plus). They covered everything. The adjuster was a bit of a pain but in the end I was satisfied with the claim. Also, they didn't jack-up my premium on renewal.

I have progressive as well. I hit a stump up the river and put a 14 inch gash in my boat. I called the insurance company and they sent someone to Bass Pro Shop which is where I brought the boat to have it looked at. The guys at BPS said they could get the work done for me at a cost of 975.00 which was a bit more than I expected. I got a call form the agent who dropped by to look at the boat and he told me he estimated the damage at 1800.00 and that he would subtract my 500.00 deductable and send me a check for 1300.00. He also said that if I could get the work done for 975.00, good on you. Oh ya, have I satisfied all your needs??? I said hell yes and used the extra money to install a keel guard. This all got done in a week also.

No price increase. In fact, they said if I had a clean year this year they were going to lower it.

I live in Tyler, and Progressive totally screwed me. I hit something running wide open in the Atchafalaya, and shelled my Lower unit. They said it was worn gears, but paid for my prop and propshaft. I am a maintenence freak, and the 2005 motor was in excellent condition before this. I didn't accept this, and wrote the commisioner, but since they "paid" , the commisioner doesn't get involved with amounts of claim, as long as there is a "settlement". The lawyers would have cost me more than the repair, and most didn't want the case. How did the gears wear out at the same time the prop and shaft got bent? The adjustor is not good here for the most part, though they pay for a lot of claims. They really got a lot of bad press from me and others last year on bassboatcentral. I switched to State Farm. A lot of my friends did too after this fiasco. Just a honest reply from my experience with these guys. You may fare better with them than I did, I am just giving you a heads up. I am well known around here, and try not to disrespect anyone, but I got screwed!!!This case is widely known among the guys here in Tyler, and I will never have a policy covered by them as long as I am in this area. My 2 cents. STEVE T

Traditionally Progress is good with claims service, but if you get a jerk for an adjuster it does not matter who you have. SafeCo boat insurance can save you some money over Progressive sometimes. No experience with formost/farmers but have heard a few that had it and were satisfied. Definitely shop your insurance, you might save $300 bucks a year. Be sure and get coverage on your tackle and graphs as well.
