I know this is a simple fix from some of you more knowledgeable guys out there but I can seem to get my trolling motor to come up off the boat and down into the water. The rope that you pull to bring the motor up seems to be fully extended and doesnt pull out any further so I guess its stuck. Any helpful hints available out there?
Thanks a bunch!

the release pin must be stuck ..sometimes, if something gets between the mounts, its hard to get up..I have put pressure on the TM, either pushing down with hand OR I STEP on the TM as I'm pulling the release rope..sometimes you have to really POP the rope..

Also make sure the TM is mounted level--IF it twist a little, it can bind the release pin..

What Kingdad said. Put your foot on top of the metal frame and step down slightly while pulling the rope. The pins will slide out. Your frame is exerting upward pressure on the pins not allowing them to slide out. Just a little pressure pushing down is all it takes. I routinely work mine in this fashion. saves wear on the pins. Spray the pins with dry lube if ya want.

Inspect the pins once you get it released. Sometimes they will bend.

Once you get it up you can use cooking spray to lube it.

Hey, thanks for all the suggestions, guys.....I've been in and out of church since I got back from the lake yesterday but I will go out in the morning and assert myself. This is the first time this TM has not come up but I'm sure its just the pins sticking and I didnt want to yank it too hard for fear of breaking the rope. Have no fear!!
Will let ya'll know how I do.

I had the same thing happen this fall on a boat I bought. WD40 fixed it right up.

Well guys, I got the boat out on the lake yesterday morning and pulled my trolling motor rope and gave it a swift kick at the same time and pow, it came right up. Yep, I better get some WD 40 or some silicone spray to keep it slick.
Thanks for all the help!
