So I picked up 2 of these reels on clearance at Walmart for 9 bucks. Figured why not, cheap back up reel and something for the kids to use. Took them out of the package and started to play with them. Figured why not break one open and take a look. Seems like a decent made reel, metal gears, 7 bearings, graphite body, aluminum spool, feels smooth, bail operates smooth, little heavy but not bad. Comparable to a Pflugerville Trion imo. Went online and read reviews, seems like it gets above 4 stars all around with some guys saying they have owned one for 5 years. Then I saw that the outdoor angler trademark belong to Walmart. So it got me thinking, who made these reels for Walmart? After a little detective work I noticed that the drag adjustment knob is identical to the ones one "Lew's" fishing reels. So I started to look at the reels Lew's make and found one with identical stats, but a slightly different body, they want about 40 dollars for the that one. Can't say for certain, but I believe the reel is built by Lew's. I was wondering if anyone knew for sure who makes the reels for Walmart brand called Outdoor Angler?

Anyways going for an all day trip this weekend and am going to test these reels out and will report back.
